My new MacBook...
Okay, I've fallen in love with Mac OS X - it's beautiful, responsive, customizable, and powerful. Based on UNIX I am able to run my favorite command-line applications without modification (ipython), server processes (CherryPy & LigHTTPD), and have quite the smattering of widgets available at the touch of a button. It's only missing a few things - like the ability to even view the contents of the external HDD I'm using to store the files from my old laptop. Oh well.
How many people can claim 6 hours of runtime on a single battery charge? Seriousally! Performance is not an issue either - I was able to rip several CDs into iTunes at around 15 seconds per song. I'm blown away.
Software wise I mainly stick to the basics: Camino, Mail, Adium, iTunes, Pages, TextMate, and Terminal.
For real media playing I use VLC. I'd like to use MPlayer, but support seems to be flaky at the moment.
Anyway, I'll post this sucker as I'm beginning to run out of room on my Widget display - that's right, I'm posing this straight from my Mac. No web browser required!
